Ipe

Botanical name: Handroanthus spp.
Janka Hardness: 3,680 lbs
The first thing you'll notice about Ipe is just how dense and hard it is. This definitely isn't your grandmother's cedar siding. Ipe is a beautiful dark brown, and while no two boards are exactly alike, all boards exist in a reasonably tight color range.

Red Mangaris

Botanical name: Dipterocarpaceae
Janka Hardness: 2,100 lbs
Red Mangaris is a beautiful deep reddish brown that isn't as hard as Ipe, but much easier to work with. It is also much more consistent in color than Ipe, giving your project a nice, uniform look.

Gold Mangaris

Botanical name: Dipterocarpaceae
Janka Hardness: 2,100 lbs
Gold Mangaris is very similar to Red Mangaris, but is a nice sourdough-loaf golden brown rather than reddish brown. Much like its red cousin, Gold Mangaris is very consistent in color between boards relative to Ipe or Teak, and is a great choice for exterior applications due to its rot resistance.

Teak

Botanical name: Tectona Grandis
Janka Hardness: 1,070 lbs
Teak is the gold standard of outdoor/weather resistant woods. Its natural oiliness both repels moisture and harmful insects, making it the ideal outdoor wood if budget allows. It's also widely thought of as the prettiest of the exterior-grade hardwoods, with a beautiful golden color that darkens slightly with age.

Thermacor Ash/Red Oak

Thermacor is a domestic hardwood line of thermally modified Ash and Red Oak decking boards that ensure durability and consistency of color. If you're a real sucker for consistency, and don't want to gamble on the natural color of a pallet of Ipe, this might be the product for you. And, if you're asking me, Thermacor Ash kind of smells like cookies when you cut into it. Trust me.

MOSO Bamboo

MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking boards are made from compressed, thermally treated bamboo strips. Bamboo X-treme® is suitable for outdoor applications, especially as decking. The extreme stability of the material ensures a very durable bamboo surface or outdoor living area, with the natural appearance of hardwood.

KAYU Borneo Mahogany

KAYU Borneo Mahogany is a beautiful reddish brown hardwood for exterior applications, that is naturally weather and insect resistant. It's color is very uniform, and is inspected by KAYU to be 100% clear.
