Custom Conference Tables & Office Furniture

Custom Conference Tables & Office Furniture in Los Angeles

A conference table is often the single most visible piece of furniture a company owns. It is where pitches happen, where deals get signed, and where every visitor forms a first impression of the firm. The right table makes the room. At House of Hardwood, we build custom conference tables, executive desks, credenzas, reception desks, and office furniture for corporate clients, commercial designers, dealers, and growing companies across Los Angeles, milled to your exact dimensions, finish, and tech integration spec.

We have been operating out of our Wellesley Avenue yard since 1947. Bring us your room dimensions, AV requirements, building access constraints, and any design direction, and our team will work through species, construction, cable management, and finish with you.

What We Build

Our office furniture work covers boardroom-grade tables and the supporting pieces that go with them:

  • Conference and boardroom tables in single solid surfaces or sectioned for field assembly
  • Huddle and small meeting room tables
  • Live-edge slab tables for modern tech and creative office environments
  • Executive desks with matched-grain returns and credenzas
  • Reception desks with custom front panels and integrated transaction tops
  • Coworking and shared workspace tables for open-plan offices
  • Sit-stand desk tops sized to standard adjustable bases
  • Credenzas and bookcase millwork to match the table
  • Built-in office casework for private offices and partner suites

Every piece is milled to your finished dimensions, with cable management, AV cutouts, and power grommet locations cut in shop to your spec.

Species We Recommend

Species selection sets the character of the room. A few we work with most often for office and conference environments:

  • Walnut - The standard for executive boardrooms and upscale conference rooms. Rich chocolate heartwood, straight grain, and a serious presence that reads well in law firms, finance, private equity, and C-suite offices.
  • White Oak - The dominant choice for modern corporate interiors. Quartersawn and rift-sawn cuts deliver a refined linear grain that pairs cleanly with contemporary architecture and creative office build-outs.
  • Hard Maple - Bright and clean. Common in tech offices, agencies, and rooms designed for video conferencing where lighter surfaces help on camera.
  • Cherry - Warm reddish-amber tones that deepen over time. Traditional law firms, family offices, and established practices.
  • Sapele and Mahogany - Formal, deep reddish-brown. Classic for traditional boardrooms and partner offices.
  • Live-Edge Slabs - Walnut, claro walnut, sycamore, oak, and other species in single-slab format, each selected by hand. The modern feature-piece choice for tech companies, creative agencies, and statement reception areas. Browse our unique slab inventory.
  • Wenge and Zebrawood - Bold accent species for feature tables or panel work where a distinctive grain pattern is part of the design.

If you have a species in mind that we don’t have on the rack, we can usually source it on a short turnaround.

Construction Approaches

How a table is built matters as much as the species, especially at conference scale.

  • Solid timber and matched glue-ups - For tables up to roughly 14 feet, we typically build as a single matched glue-up of book-matched or sequence-matched boards. The result reads as one continuous surface.
  • Sectioned construction with field joints - For longer tables, or for buildings where elevator and doorway access prevents moving a single 16-30 foot piece, we build in sections with precision-machined field joints. Sections drop together on site and pull tight with hidden hardware under the top.
  • Live-edge slab - A single slab carrying the full surface. Best for huddle rooms, executive offices, and statement conference rooms where the slab itself is the design.
  • Bases - We can build the top to mount on a steel base supplied by your designer, build a matching hardwood base, or coordinate with your fabricator on a custom mixed-material design.

Cable Management and Tech Integration

A modern conference table is a piece of AV infrastructure as much as a piece of furniture. We cut and rout for the integration your room needs:

  • Pop-up power and data boxes (FSR, Extron, Crestron, and similar)
  • Flush grommets for routine cable pass-through
  • Routed cable channels underneath the top to keep wiring hidden
  • Cutouts for ceiling-mic drops, push-to-talk panels, and confidence monitors
  • Wireless charging zones built into the surface
  • Camera and microphone cutouts for video conferencing systems
  • Cable trays and harness paths to the base or floor box

Send us your AV equipment spec sheets and base or floor box locations, and we will mill the top to match.

Finishing Options

Office and conference tables see heavy daily use. Finish has to handle coffee, laptops, pens, and constant cleaning. Common options:

  • Conversion varnish for maximum durability in high-use boardrooms and reception areas
  • Polyurethane in satin or semi-gloss for a hard sealed surface
  • Hardwax oil for a natural low-sheen look with a warmer feel, easy to spot-repair
  • Stained finishes matched to your brand standards, existing furniture, or architectural finishes
  • Ebonized finishes for modern dark-wood corporate aesthetics

For high-traffic boardrooms and rooms used daily, we generally recommend a hard catalyzed finish. For private executive offices and partner suites where a warmer feel matters, oil finishes age beautifully.

Sizing, Field Assembly, and Lead Times

Most conference tables are built in the 1-1/2″ to 2-1/2″ thickness range, with widths from 42″ to 60″ depending on seating count and video needs. Lengths run from 6 feet for huddle rooms to 30 feet and beyond for large boardrooms. For guidance on how plank scale affects large-format surfaces, see our notes on wide plank vs narrow plank choices in large rooms.

For pieces over roughly 12 feet, or for any project where building access is a constraint, plan on sectioned construction. We coordinate field-joint placement with your installer so seams fall in visually quiet positions.

Lead times depend on size, species, finish, and tech integration. Smaller tables and desks in stocked species ship in two to three weeks. Full boardroom tables with AV integration, custom bases, and matched credenzas typically take four to eight weeks. We give you an honest schedule up front.

Sustainability Options

For corporate sustainability commitments, LEED scorecards, or client-driven green building specs, we carry FSC certified stock in select species and can source additional certified material to order. The certified lumber looks and machines exactly like our conventional stock, with chain of custody documented for your project file.

Who We Build For

We work with corporate facilities teams, commercial interior designers, architects on tenant improvement projects, furniture dealers, GCs on commercial buildouts, coworking operators, and executives furnishing private offices. We have built conference tables and office furniture for law firms, finance offices, tech companies, talent agencies, production studios, and creative shops across Los Angeles. See some of our completed projects and photos to get a sense of our work.

We do not handle on-site installation, but we coordinate closely with your dealer, AV integrator, and installer on field-joint alignment, base mounting, and cable handoff.

Start Your Project

Bring your room dimensions, building access details, AV equipment specs, and any design direction to the yard and we will scope the project on the spot. If you are still in design, our team can recommend species, construction, and tech integration based on how the room will actually be used.
